Zynga Snags EA Games Exec

Hey Guys, Be The First To This With Your Friends

Zynga has recruited John Schappert, the former chief operating officer of Electronic Arts (EA Games). Schappert joins other former EA Games employees who’ve migrated over to Zynga.

Rumors have been circulating for some time that Zynga is preparing for a future public offering of stocks or IPO and that this is just another move to secure the companies groundwork as a social gaming powerhouse. Currently, Zynga offers a total of 55 games and boasts bragging rights of controlling about “75% of social games played on Facebook”. With successful games such as FarmVille, Mafia Wars, and CityVille Zynga has dominated the social gaming industry scooping up millions of users along the way. According to The Los Angeles Times, “Close to 260 million people played a Zynga game last month” and its closest competitor, Badoo, which is “the second-biggest developer on Facebook” had only “49.5 million players”.
